I am having the manifold removed from my c-5 to have a new oil sending unit put in. Is there anything else in the same area I should replace while the manifold is off? I have about 65,000 miles on her.
O ring on the cam sensor should be replaced. The knock sensors on these cars often go bad along with their wire harness under the manifold. Take a look at the knock sensors and see if there is excessive rust from water and you could decide if you want to replace them.
Should this sensor simply lift out? I removed my intake, a couple of months ago, to replace the AIR check valves, and tried to lift the cam sensor out, to provide more room to get at the o/p sensor, since I was going to change it out, since I was in there.
I removed the cam sensor retaining bolt, GENTLY pulled up on the sensor, but it would come out. Now I'm hoping that disturbing it doesn't create a leak.....

Yes, the cam sensor should come off after you remove the retaining bolt. Some gentle wiggling may be needed as crud, oil and whatnots could be lodged in there. Also the o ring holds it in there too. Just need to pull on it until the o ring kinda pops out of its groove.

Took the words right out of my mouth. It's cheap too. I also agree with relocating the OPS as well as adding about a 5" (~) vacuum hose extension to the small nylon vacuum hose that connects to the backside of the manifold. 1/8" ID. Easy to do.
Also put the eyeball on the pcv tube assembly. It fits into a grommet on the driver's side and then runs back behind the manifold around to the passenger's side. Check the joints and overall condition. The rubber bits suffer over time and start cracking, etc.
