Ok guys Im supposed to leave this morning for a trip with my girlfriend a a couple of corvette buddies. Last night my 2002 Z06 starting giving me issues. The car will not turn over. All the dash lights work. WHen I turn the key to the crank position there is no starter. I have done alot of work on figuring out whats going on but at this point im stumped.
Here is what I have done. I obviously checked all the fuses. Then I removed the ignition and cleaned the contacts on the back. I then read the resistance in the key and I read the resistance at the plug on the wire coming out of the lock. They are the same. so the sensor is working. I then jumped the red and purple wire at the Theft Deterant relay. The car starts every time with the key forward and jumping those wires. I replaced the relay. Still doesnt start. I checked the connections at the BCM. All good there.
The car will start with the ignition maybe every 200 tries. This is weird.
So when you turn the key to the on position the security light is not illuminating for a second or two and then going out???
Pull your codes and post them please.....
There are no codes present. The security light does not come on at all. Also I ran a momentary switch to the purple and red wired on the tdr. I was wrong, jumping those two doesn't always start the car as it should. So I checked for power going into purple wire when the no start issue arrises. I DO have 12v going to purple wire through relay and down to starter when the no start issue is present. That being said I'm guessing starter itself is bad?
