Default Breather smoking

Hey guys,

Since the weather has cooled off. I have noticed more smoke coming from my breather. it has also used about a quart of oil in the last 1000 miles. Suddenly, at the stop light it will start smoking and it is building up under the hood.

Can anybody provide me some information so I will stop freaking out, please?

Is this normal for no PCV system or am I in trouble?

Thank you guys

Blow-by is crankcase vapors caused by compression leaking by the piston rings, the more vapor the more leakage !!!!!

Just a thought...could a leaking head gasket cause this? Check the oil level if it is low or foamy looking this could be the culprit. Anyone out there have an idea?

Not sure why you want to run that setup it is going to really make a mess under the hood. Condensation on cold start is normal and usually burned off through the PCV system. Why do you have that setup? It will cause damage if there is no PCV setup to purge vapors and blowby. What are you running for a thermostat?

So we did a compression check on cylinder 3 and it produced 100psi. The other pistons are at 160-175psi. Now the interesting thing is we threw some oil in the cylinder and tested it and it stayed at 100psi.

I was also told by the previous owner that the piston rings were replaced at 30,000 by Chevrolet under warranty.

What a bummer.

Thank you for responding...

This is the full setup...
TFS 220cc heads
Vindicator Camshaft
Yella Terra Ultra Lite Rockers
Fast 92 Intake Manifold
LS2 polished throttle body (I believe)
Dynatech long tube headers
B&B Bullets
160* thermostat.
Built and Tuned by Vengeance in 2007 (10k ago)

The rings were replaced by Chevrolet before the build.

The car came like this when I bought it. I am not familiar with modifying or building engines so I have left it alone.
