Default Kooks Header Torque

Installing my new Kooks Headers today and was wondering if I should torque the headers to the head using the recommended torque from Kooks 28-32 ft lbs. Or use the manufacturers torque specs of 18 ft. lbs.
Thoughts?

Thanks,
Mike

I'd go with 18ft lbs, what GM engineering recommends for aluminum heads with standard grade bolts. If Kooks provides good gaskets and flat flanges I see no reason to increase the torque from GM.
If they're supplying higher grade bolts then perhaps that spec is OK.

I still wouldn't exceed the GM spec, because you're relying on the strength of the threads in an aluminum head, more than the shear strength of the bolt, in my opinion.

Yeah, I said that part with apprehension. My first words stand; I'd go 18.
