LMAO! You do understand that the entire drivetrain (Bell housing, TT Trans and Differential) needs to be removed and then reinstalled,, correct???

Then the rear cover needs to be removed and the reinstalled with the new seal.

SO,,,,,,, YES,,,,,,,,,, It takes more than a few days to do that job!!

If they told you "Friday. I called them after hearing nothing Friday and they said Monday. I called Monday after hearing nothing all day and they said it would more than likely be ready today." ,,, they must have NOT really understood the complexity on doing a rear main seal job or are doing EASIRE jobs in front of yours!!

AUTO or MANUAL??? ,,,,,, How Many Miles on the drive train???

They are doing you a MISSERVICE if they didn't do some OTHER drivetrain maintenance while the damn thing was that far apart!

You should have installed a clutch remote bleeder as well so you can bleed your clutch to maintain your slave and clutch life.

.....you left out the exhaust system and tunnel plate (that's two hours of screws right there).

Funny thing is, it takes like 10 minutes to change the actual seal.

I would agree that they should keep you informed of what is going on, especially if the time frame goes beyond what was stated. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to stop by and see just what progress has been made and ask for an update.

All hearsay man I would just go to the shop fixing your car and discuss your concerns with the owner. Also be sure to be calm and respectful, I personally would not bring other shops pricing into your discussion YET.

Each shop said roughly 1-2 days since it's 10 labor hours to do and that gives time for things to go wrong or the like. I'm going to ask the shop why their estimate is higher. I feel like they're going to say that they replace lots of things that are good to do while you have the drivetrain dropped, but it sounds like their initial 3 days total estimate was more than fair so something else is going on that's not acceptable.

I'm trying to be reasonable and give them the benefit of the doubt since they're such a well spoken of independent shop, but this is starting to make me think I should just take it to a Chevy dealer next time. They even said they'd install my aftermarket clutch (which I figured a dealer would only install OEM parts). Go figure a dealer has better rates and turn around than a large independent shop.
You have to know the average Dealer has 10 or more Techs and most have one or two stalls and have to get the car done before they get anther repair job !!!

yup, they are jacking you around, I've watched 2 techs at RPM transmissions pull a drive train, change a clutch in 6 hours start to finish with a break for lunch.
