Default Driveshaft Length Tolerance? (2002 Z06)

Does anyone know what the length tolerance is of the driveshaft (or driveshaft + driveshaft input shaft)?

The stock driveshaft + guibos is 42.5" long. I ordered a DSS guibo-less carbon shaft and installed it only to find the front input shaft torque tube bearing protruding from the torque tube. I removed it and measured the driveshaft to find that it was 42.75" long. After a couple angered phone discussions with DSS I now have a replacement in hand and it's 42 7/16" long.

Based on the pilot bearing wear on the input shaft it appears that 1/16" shorter won't be an issue as there is some pilot bearing contact surface to spare. However, it doesn't leave me warm and fuzzy installing something I know doesn't match the stock length.

Thanks all

I really don't think that 1/16'' of an inch is going to cause you any issue's to be honest...what does the DSS say about it? i am kinda curious as well

The replacementnshaft didn't show up until late in the day so the shop was already closed. I'll speak with them tomorrow and report back.

So DSS says plus or minus 1/16." Based on two different input shafts I have and the OEM pilot bearing wear marks on them, I agree that 1/16" either way is acceptable.

i would rather have it be 1/16'' less and have that bit of free play then to have it be 1/16'' to tight and have it fitting to tight
