transmission question...
So the other day after a hard pull on the highway my shifter got stuck in fourth gear, it would not budge, after a while I was finally able to get it out and it started shifting ok again. However, ever since that day, it grinds when I try to go into fourth gear. I think I have a worn out syncro, but I'm open to hear what anyone else has to say. Also, if I need a rebuild, what is the average cost? Thanks

1. Clutch hydraulics and fluid condition.
IF, you are not fully disengaging the clutch disk from the flywheel & pressure plate because the hydraulic system cant extend enough when you depress the clutch, your car will NEVER shift correctly and or Grind the gears that are having the most difficult time synchronizing the speed between the driven gear and the shifted gear.
Low master cyl fluid and or very dirty worn out fluid can and will have a negative effect on shift quality and proper operation!!! Air in the clutch hydraulics system causes the same thing! What is the condition of the clutch fluid and hydraulic system bleed???
Same goes for a worn damaged master cylinder and or slave cylinder.
Can you shift normally in and out of all gears when the engine is OFF????
Can you shift normally out of that STUCK gear if you pull the shifter when the engine is running, car rolling and car is not PUSHING or PULLING (accelerating or decelerating) through the drivetrain???
