Default Broken Electronic Brake Control Module) 2000 use newer model?

hi my Electronic Brake Control Module is broken ( always flashing ABS)
for year 2000 C5.

I was wondering if Newer models are compatible with the 2000 C5?

The reason is because they don't make the EBCM part new anymore and I heard it cost $2000 $3000 to get one, and there's no guarantee it will last very long

hopefully if I got a new EBCM I could get a 2015 or 2016, (and spend $2000 or $3000?), But I don't know if it would be compatible with my old car from 2000

what are your thoughts?

CLEAR all those codes and then report the ones that return

The C1243 indicates a stuck/sluggish Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (motor/Pump) Some people do not use the antilock braking system frequently enough and that causes the motor /pump to not operate freely or at all.

You can try to apply a separate 12 VDC power supply directly to the BPMV motor leads inside the module and run the motor manually short burst to free it up. Some people have ben successful with this procedure. Before you do this, I would make sure that you have new fresh brake fluid in the system for best results.

If that's all the EBTCM DTCs that you have, nothing is wrong with the EBTCM.

awesome!
I cleared all the codes and guess what only one of them came back.
28 – TCS C1243H

by the way, indicators that turn on are

service active handling
service traction system
service ABS

I also took the car for a drive around the lot tried pressing the brakes hard etc. to see if any more error codes would show up, and no more error codes showed up. just 28–TCS C1243H

MaxiSys says the bpmv is internal to the abs (part #4) so I'm trying to see if there is a generic part for that for sale

Does anyone know if the Relay inside the ABS is serviceable or if it is soldered?

we're thinking about replacing the relay, but I'm hearing that there might be other problems besides the relay

The two relays are replaceable BUT,,, They are NOT your issue. One relay is the internal power relay and the other is the MAGASTEER power relay.

You need a new BPMV OR Try to get the one you have to free up the motor/pump!

Plain and simple.

You should make sure that all of your POWER and GROUND feeds for the module are 100% DIT DOT PERFECT. The Ground LUG on the motor is well known to get loose and corroded. Check that!

Your module will look like this( yours will be in the front)

This is how you open the module and access the Power lead to the motor to run it if you don't have a TECH 2

Any 12 VDC battery will work. If you have a battery charger that isn't a SMART CHARGER, that will work. A Jump Starter Pack will work.

Just find a spare male pin that you can insert into the 12 VDC feed to the motor plug inside the module and apply the GROUND WIRE to the GROUND LUG on the back of the motor. The motor should RUN. Let it run in short burst.

Here are some post on past BPMV issues:

You can google more.

Default Thanks

I actually just got the EBC module to work too by filling the tires up a little over normal and then peeling around a corner to destabilize the car and the anti lock brakes turned on and literally nothing is “flashing as broken” anymore it’s amazing.
