I know its been discussed at length and i have seen the other threads. My issue is a little different, I swapped the back up light switch 2 times replaced all the fuses and relays. I have jumped the connector at the swtich I did it once and the reverse lights came on. then swapped out the switch and tried the reverse again and still no lights. tried to jump it again and now the lights don't come on at all. bulbs are good. lights do come on when using the fob to unlock and lock..
99 6 speed
thanks in advance

Fuse 21 is good, relay #38 is good, switch is new. I'll try the ignition diagnosis.
If you have the ignition switch ON, you have battery voltage at fuse 21 output M7 (measured to a good ground), backup switch is good and and in the closed position, relay 38 is de-energized and there is no resistance across the closed contacts, Splice pack SP400 is clean, G401 is making a good ground contact, and the backup lights and sockets are good, the backup lights should light.
If the lights come on when you use the fob, everything from N6 on the relay to G401 is good.
You have a problem between the fuse (provided the power is good) and N6 on the relay.

Reason: missed fact that lights work with fob
Splice pack 400 CANNOT be a problem. That is because the backup lights DO illuminate when you use the FOB. Hence a complete circuit path exists between Fuse #2, the backup lights and ground (through SP 400).
Your problem is somewhere between the ignition switch (Hot in On before fuse #21), fuse 21, the wiring from Fuse 21 to the backup lamp switch, the backup lamp switch or it's activation by shifting into reverse, and the wiring from the backup lamp switch to connection P5 on relay 38.
I think the confusion regarding SP400 arose because I didn't initial see that the lights worked with the Fob. I went back and edited my post but the emails had already been sent to your inboxes. The circuit from the relay to G401 is good because the lights work when you use the fob.
I agree that the problem is between the fuse and the relay contact output.
