Default oil pressure switch

Is there a easy (well not easy) way to replace the oil pressure switch on a 2000 model without removing the intake etc. Just moved up from a C3 to a C5. Doesn't look like things are much easier to work on in this one either.

Based on what happened to my 99 I would suggest that you don't just replace the OPS but relocate it as well. I had three OPS fail on my 99 until I relocated it.

Lots of posts on relocation on this forum.

Do it the right way, follow the instructions for removing the intake.
Carefully clean around the intake to get accumulated derbies off it. Also I would suggest replacing the intake gaskets. At 16yrs old these will be quite flat and not seal well.

Just did mine per the FSM. About 3 hours. Cost was around $70 including intake gaskets. The torque specs for the intake are in INCH pounds not foot pounds. Slide the manifold forward about 6 inches to disconnect the 3 items on the back of the manifold and extend that pesky vacuum line for the hvac before reassembly. I enjoy working on my C5 so it was a pleasure to do it myself. If you were a little closer I'd come over and give you hand. Have fun and good luck. Mike

I added a length of hose on the small vacuum line, much easier to re-install the intake.

IF,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, You remove the intake I STRONGLY recommend not just sliding it back. You will be SHOCKED at how much sand, dust, dirt, acorns, ect are contained in the cracks and crevices and that stuff will NOT let the intake gaskets seal. It can also get into an intake port. Remove the manifold, clean all the crap out, replace the seals and consider it done correctly!

and having worked on a c3, there are a lot of repairs on a c5 that are easier to do, one of them is removing the intake

Hint pounder.......
