Nice work! For the rack I opted for a remanufactured unit from Zip Corvette. I think I paid about three hundred and returned mine for core charge. I was upgrading all of the suspension and my rack was leaking so for $300 and change I got a rebuilt rack, two new inner tie rods, and new steering boots, not a wash but close. So far so good, no leaks.

FWIW, my puller started to strip, I backed off and put a lot of grease on the threads. It held and lived to pull another one on the old engine I took apart. Doubt it will pull another. I'm looking for a good recommendation on who makes quality pullers.

Glad to see that the dampener was still on the correct interference fit.. That means that the outside of the crank snout is good. What about the threads on the inside?

ZIP does excellent work. I would use their service and get the reman unit.

A word of CAUTION

CAUTION: When you remove the front cover and reinstall the new cover gasket, the gasket will fit in either direction BUT, it only properly fits ONE WAY. If you put it on the wrong way the oil hole on the block will not be sealed and you will have an oil leak.

Well I'm rolling the dice on the rack. I had already bought new tie rod ends and bellows. I cleaned everything and I'll watch it. If I fail then come February I'll hit zip up. Thanks.

Well the bolt still had a lot of wobble to it but the harmonic balancer tool held up while installing the pulley so I figured what the heck - go for it. I pulled in the ARP bolt to 240 ft/lbs with red loctite and RTV on the washer. It held for now so I'm going to let everything set up and see how goes.

I know I should have replaced the seals while I was in there but I'm notorious for a buying a car and disassembling the whole thing due to "while I'm in there." I'm trying to not do that this go around. Thanks for the advice - hopefully I don't have to reference this thread for a long while.

So to wrap this up I'd like to say that working on a Corvette is a whole lot better than working on the German stuff. The job itself was not to difficult since there are a lot of good threads to reference.

It is a lot of work and requires a lot of different tools.

The biggest snafu I ran into was the power steering lines. I had to get a crows foot wrench for them to break loose. When reassembly occurred I discovered there is not enough room to get enough turn on the standard wrench to reset and get more turn (if that makes sense). So I need to track down the crows foot that has the 3/8" drive on the side of it to be able to tighten it up. Not the end of the world but just another obstacle. I noticed folks say to build your own harmonic balancer puller but the one I bought from summit was nice for $100 and it took a lot of pressure. I'm glad I didnt cheap out on that tool.

Everyone likes pictures and thanks for all of your help!
