Depends on what you are hitting. If you run up on a parking curb they more than likely will not do any good. The parking curb will impact the radiator support before it gets to the wheel and will then hit the wheel at a high level. Either the wheel will tear out of the support, the support will bend, or both will happen or if you are lucky the curb will break and fall apart.

I haven't hit anything but have scraped a few times entering and exiting parking lots. I noticed my things (lol, whatever their name is) under the front where you would put the wheels or skids are all bent to hell. They would have to be straightened out or replaced before I could use any aftermarket goodies.
I have used a set of FattMammas for over a decade and they have saved me many times.

I have these as well, and they work great. I have bumped/rolled them many times.
And I would be leery of that single roller someone posted earlier. It seems to hang lower than the double roller, and I'd also be worried about it tearing apart since there will be a prying force with it just on one side like that.

The "thing" is the entire lower radiator support. It is a single large metal structure that you can easily remove and replace but it's going to cost a good chunk of change to do so. If it has significant damage from bottoming out it may not be easily repairable. It's best to install the fangs or protection plates early on so that you don't have to worry about such extreme damage that it requires radiator support replacement.
I'm thinking the fangs might attach more readily on my damaged supports, the supports are banged up to where it is not straight enough to install the wheels.
Anyone placed the fangs on mangled . somewhat, radiator supports? or will I be the first? I brought a lowered car back to a town the uses dips in the residential intersections for speed control, ouch.

Here is a before and after pictures that a customer posted.
The Fangs work best on a undamaged skid plates because they are fully supported but they will also work on damaged skid plates to protect and improve the look as you can see.

My supports were pretty banged up when I installed rollers on them. IIRC I had to run a drill all the way through the holes to kind of clean and re-align them, but after that they went in with no issues.
