First and foremost, I hope er'one has a very happy Thanksgiving. I have searched the cooling fan threads and haven't found what I am looking for so please bare with me. Can anyone tell me how or provide a diagram for manual control of both fans on high speed. Maybe something similar to the C5 fan trick on rangeraccleration.com. That jumper tip controls both fans on low. Or could I completely bypass the ECM and wire directly from a power source through a relay or relays to new pigtales plugged into the fans. Any advice would be much appreciated.
sac city has a device called cool it. depending if your car is a v2 or v3, you install these plug in chips in your computer (very easy for anybody to install), attach a ground (all shown and explained with instructions and also on youtube) and you can turn on the high speed fans any time you want with a wireless remote. I live in miami and this is always a great thing.
Install a Hayden adjustable fan controller, they cost about $30. This will automatically turn your fan on when it reaches the temperature you set...why bother with a manual fan control?? I wrote an installation DIY for the Hayden, back around 2001, search thru the Tech notes/tips on this forum. With a stock thermostat, and this controller, my water temps runs between 190 and 205, and up to 215 in stop & go traffic in the summer with the AC on.
I had my tuner set my fans to 160 and 175. I also popped for a DeWitts radiator and fan set up. Expensive but worth every penny my car rarely goes over 178, uphill, stop and go, freeway she stays right there.
