The one just below your post & above mine.
I was asking him, "JRPRICH", where to get it.

Yes, Jrprich is me
It is not an insert. The pop up "finger" is cut out from the original ash tray door.
The steps are outlined in the links I posted. Once installed the finger pops up when the cup holder door is open and provides much needed stability.
I cut my finger wider than the original design and glued some black vinyl matt to it's back side. It works very well for me

The scale issue applies to most

Economies of scale. It's a piece specifically to fit the Corvette, which means a (relatively) small market, which means a higher cost per unit for manufacturing.
accessories. Limited runs on expensive tooling.

Wouldn't have happened if you had the flying fickle finger mod

The way over priced "girl-in-a-box?" holders were just one of the folding cupholders I mentioned in post 17 screwed to a clear plastic panel

I've never seen one that I would personally use. The best travel buddy looks really tacky to me.
I just make make sure every beverage I have has a lid and put it in between my legs.

And then if it is a really hot beverage you can get a bonus of roasted nuts on the side.

No need for a cup holder in a c5. I need my hands for steering and shifting.

Well got the cup holder. It fits & isn't too badly in the way, but won't take any but my small cup (same one I have to use in my C4). Still looks & is, a cheap piece of plastic, but, still better than nothing. Guess I'll keep it until/unless I find better.
thanks for all the responses.

"won't take any but my small cup"
Which is why I suggested the folding unit with the adjustable arms.....and they take us no space when not in use.
