anyone have tips on x pipes? where is the cut made on stock pipes? have you seen the two piece bassini setup, does it replace the cats? what about sound is it much louder? thanks
Hi, I see this is your 1st post on the forum - welcome, your gonna like the forum .
"X" pipes do not have tips, they usually are welded or clamped under your vette where your "H" pipe is / was. Depending on their length, you can remove the cats, but that is against the law in most places, so check your local laws.
The "X" pipe doesn't make your exhaust system louder, it can on some systems, make the system sound smoother or mellower ... Hope this helps ..
I had the x-pipe installed in front of the H-pipe in order to keep the tailpipes aligned. The installation reduced the gurgling and popping on deceleration. The exhaust won't get any louder. If anything, it will get quieter.
Here's a picture of the Corsa x-pipe that I put on my C5. Notice that the stock system is cut off about 14 inches past the cat converters. The new x-pipe assembly then slips over the stock pipesand then they are clamped on. The stock muffler system is then bolted to the rear flanges just llike the stock setup would. Hope this helps.
