I had my C5 shipped from Denver to Los Angeles a couple weeks ago and the car carrier driver was about 5'6". When he pulled the vehicle up and down the ramps he moved the seat forward.
When I got in my vehicle I couldn't get the power seat to move backwards and now my face is kissing the steering wheel! I cannot say that he broke the seat. For all I know the seat has been broken for years. I never adjust it. Now, it will go forward but not backwards.
Does anyone know if there is some type of manual release that allows me to move the seat backwards without replacing the power seat switch?

Thank you.
No manual release that i know of and I had my seats out several times....Sorry
I think the only way to do it would be to remove the seat and disassemble the tracks like you do when you're replacing the seat shims to correct a rocking seat. Then you can wind the screws anywhere you want. Unfortunately, removing the seat can be a pain when you can't move it back and forth to expose the nuts that anchor the seat.
I read a lot of posts about seat switches and seat controllers but the problem with my seat was a broken wire at one of the connectors. Try reaching under the eat and wiggling all the wires while operating the switch.
I will add to WillItFloat's comment above; I was going to remove the driver's seat to fix the rocking and moved it forward to get to the rear bolts, then when I went to move it backwards to access the front bolts...nothing.....the power wire came out of the connector....completely corroded...pretty much nothing remaining of the terminal.
It was the only wire that had any corrosion on it. I had to replace the terminal.
So carefully check the wires going into the blue connector, especially the orange one.
If you require assistance in disassembling the blue connector and replacing terminals, drop me a PM. I have the terminals and can show you how to get them out of the connector body.
Do you have the memory feature? If you do, try to press MEM1 & MEM2 and see if the seat goes back via the memory feature.
The seat multifunction switch could very well be the problem. So could the actual RELAYs the actuate the motor/s for that direction. Here is a schematic that may help you resolve the issue. Remove the seat and inspect the wires, relays and multifunction switch. Here is the schematic for the seat:
You can temporarily apply 12 VDC power to pins A & B on the HORAZONTAL directional motor and get the seat back to where you need it to be.
Ive never looked at the relays but if they are all the same type and you can pop out a relay, swap it with a similar one for one of the motors that you know works.

Let me know if you still need help with this. I have had to deal with this before, on that car it turned out to be a bad switch assembly. Possibly the same on yours.
Sorry for the delayed reply, everyone. I am meeting my buddy tomorrow night to pre-plan some repairs for a couple weekends out and this information will be helpful for us!
