Default Z06 H/C question (again)

I've come to find out that an 02' Z06 H/C swap on my 2000 cpe would require more than just replacing the heads and cam...I'm new this but from my understanding it's something to do with geometry and valvetrain, etc. (thanks to those who explained it but I can't remember it all)

So...is it easier to do an 01' Z06 H/C swap on a 2000 ls1?

 I'm trying to figure out how to modestly improve a daily driver with almost all simple bolt-ons. Thanks.

Call and speak with some of our forum vendors as they can set ya straight on the "required" details for a H/C swap on an 02.

Well, I was hoping for some informal schooling/advice here without a formal sales pitch from a vendor.

Anyone?

I don't know why you would go through all the trouble of a H/C swap (~$900-1200 labor) with stock Z06 parts, when you could get another H/C package for about the same price with better gains. Some H/C packages from forum vendors start at $1500 and put down 400+rwhp on regular C5s. 01 Z06s were usually putting down 330-340rwhp. Just my opinion.

I think the (Recalibrated/Relocated MAT Sensor) you have listed in your sig is for 97-98 C5s. Unless something has changed or you have the ability to tune (read and adjust) this was considered a no no on 99+ cars. On 99+s, they usually cause detonation, "could" lead to engine damage and probably will lower HP.

As for the H/C...it's my understanding that with aftermarket H/C you lose some reliability/dependability. Someone said that springs would need replacing after a year with them too. My Vette's a daily driver and I'd like a little more performance without sacrificing too much. I'm trying to sneak the swap in under the wire without hurting my warranty also.

As for the MAT sensor, it's advertised for 2000's by BPP, I'll get on the horn and ask them...thanks for the heads up (I just put it on this week).

Just talked to Ernie at BPP, he says that unless the car's timing has been adjusted prior to this it should not be a problem.

G-Vegas huh? I'm ECU alum--just saw your sig/avatar.

I think its a lot of expensive for a little gain. Warranty can be denied on some parts for either.

On the MAT Sensor, I've never heard of anyone that recorded a gain on a 99+ car with it. On most 99+s it leads to detonation and loss of HP from those members that have tested it. Its best to remove it unless you have the ability to test and tune for it, to assure its not costing you HP.

I'm a ECU grad myself, class of 98.

I appreciate the feedback. Despite what BPP told me I think I'll remove it just to be on the safe side. Thanks.

As for the H/C, I'm gonna wait. May be buying a house fairly soon so I gotta start saving.

I was class of 01' (5 year program...well it was for me anyway).

I think a set of 02 heads/cam with headers/exhaust/vortex and tuning should be able to get someone over 375 rwhp fairly easily...for some of us guys that start with 300...that's a decent gain while keeping reliability...
