I have the normal issues with the ECBM and have no traction control or ABS. I can't afford to replace the parts now and wondered if I could remove the TC & ABS light bulbs from the dash without causing any other issues.
Leaving the light bulbs out won't leave an open circuit or anything will it?
When I can I will fix it properly but for now the lights drive me insane.
I am getting a 1243 code.
Have cleaned all the grounds and when you put 12 vots to the motor it seems to run fine but I don't have anything to compare it to.
Of course it would be nice to have ABS & Traction control but this is the first car I have had that has it. I am used to older muscle cars which had none of the fancy stuff...

I had the same code. I cleaned the grounds and the ignition switch contacts and still had the code. I ended up sending out the ebcm to get it repaired
Edit: I see you have a 1999, I don't think they can be repaired

Yeah I know....hence the dash light removal to save my sanity
There were a couple of post that went into this in great detail.
One guy used a power supply and put an AMP meter in series with the circuit. He cycled the motor until it was drawing low amps and that was enough to free it up and keep it from throwing that DTC..
If you find someone with a GM TECH2, you can use it to force run the BPMV Motor and possibly free it up. When was the last time that your brake fluid was changed???
I don't know anyone around me that has a Tech 2...... Anyone in the central Arizona or Phoenix area I would drive to you if someone wanted to help out with a Tech 2
