I have a slight vibration at highway speeds that seems to have a kind of pattern. It is smooth, then shimmies slightly in a rhythmic pattern. Have all new tires, and have been re balanced. Could the torque tube cause this?

Any chance you're running the AC? Maybe the condenser or alternator cycling? Is it speed or RPM sensitive?
No, just a very slight shimmy that comes and goes, in a pattern, with or without A/C. Had thought it was tires, had it balanced before, then got new tires, still does it.
the couplers could be going bad ?? auto ?? manual ?? same in neutral ???
6 speed. Never tried putting it in neutral. Smooth most of the time, just slight vibration at highway speeds, not real bad. It's a drivetrain or wheel issue, not engine related at all.

My 2002 vert does this also. Suggestions? (Automatic)...

This kind of sounds like a wheel bearing possibly. I had the same issue on my 2000 FRC. I tried balancing the wheels and no difference. Jacked the car up and checked the wheel bearings and found just a slight movement in the wheel on 3 of the 4 wheels. Replaced all four of the wheel bearings and the issue disappeared. My car had about 120k miles at the time.

BINGO!
That would be the first thing I would check. Jack up a wheel and give the wheel a PUSH PULL TEST at the 12:00/6:00 position and see if you can detect ANY slop/lost motion in the wheel HUB/Bearing assy. There should be little to NONE. Also, rotate the wheel and see if you can feel any roughness. With the load off the wheel bearing, that isn't always a good test but, I've seen some really bad ones that actually made noises.
The rear tires are more difficult to rotate but the push pull test works. You can also check the rear wheel hubs at the 09:00 & 03:00 positions.
