Default Electrical gremlins...

c5 corvette....suddenly this has happened....when headlights are turned on the green "blinker" arrow on the right side comes on and glows a solid green...it does not interfere with the turn signal blinking when the turn signal is engaged...it just glows green when blinker is not in use and the headlamps are "on".....checked the yellow blinking light and it is not engaged...there is another light bulb (#194) that is involved ....it turns on when you turn the light stalk on the steering column on and off when you turn the steering column stalk **** to off....never did this before...just glows green when you turn the stalk to on....the "arrow" for the left side does not come on during all this......Help, Bill!!!
thanks again for all for all their help over the years....

Sounds like an issue with the multi function switch, the headlight and turn signal control.

As a test if your car is equipped, enable twilight sentinel. This will automatically turn on the headlights when dark enough. If they turn on properly with out the symptoms of the turn signal light coming on then the multi function switch is suspect.

I have heard that there are some instructions on the forum on how to disassemble and adjust the contacts in the switch. I personally have not needed to look for these.

Well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,, Usually when something comes on like that, its because of a GHOST Circuit. Meaning, a ground path is missing or defective. If it were me,,,,,,,, I would pop the front of the car up on stands, remove the front closeout panel under the nose and find the front wiring harness SPLICE PACK.

Pop off the little cover and pull out the shorting buss bar

Here are a couple examples of a Ground Splice Pack (SP) This is the one under the fascia:

The fatter wire actually goes to G-101 or G-102 where it is actually grounded to the chassis:

Here is a picture of G-101. You can take it completely apart and make sure that there isn't any corrosion inside:

Start with ground cleaning and if that doesn't correct the issue, like "SilverC54me" stated, it could be a bad Multifunction switch.

One other thing it could be is a bad bulb socket. Before you get too deep into expensive multifunction switch replacement, pop out the bulbs/lamp sockets and really give them a close inspection and cleaning. All it takes is a little corrosion or a poor connection in that socket/s and you will have issues.

Bill,

Is the best way to clean these with a wire brush or a spray contact cleaner or both?

Thanks,

Default THANKS to Bill Curlee, again

I got under there a couple of days ago and the bulbs are all working....the "flasher" yellow bulb works fine and the little white #194 bulb comes on when you turn the column stalk for the lights on.....so I'll try the other suggestions..thanks again, Bill.....
