Default C5 Tune up

Hello fellow Vette enthusiasts

I purchased a 1999 C5 about a month ago, it has 57k on the meter, I decided to order parts and do a basic tune up. This is what I ordered:

1) AC Delco fuel filter
2) GM red wires 8mm
3) AC Delco Iridium plugs 41-110 which replaced the old part number 41-985

The wires in the car now are Delphi and I have no idea yet what the plugs are until they get pulled.

From reading the threads here for days, I dont think I can go wrong with this set up. The only mod this car has is a K&N cool intake.

Is this a good start?

Great start. If you don't know when fluids were changed that'd be my next recommendation. Manual or auto? Check belts.
Welcome aboard. Post a picture. Get used to driving the car.

This is an Automatic convertible

I forgot to mention I purchased Mobil 1 and an Mobil 1 oil filter, I am waiting for a warm day to get the car up in the air to change out the oil & filter & gas filter.

At least do a drain and fill on the Coolant. Use DexCool. 50% mix with clean/distilled water.
Suck out as much brake fluid from Master & Fill with new dot 3
Same for Power Steering Resevoir- just regular parts store PS fluid is fine.
After you change Fuel Filter- add some Techron Concentrate to fuel
And drop transmission Pan. Replace filter. Fill (special procedure) with
Dexron Vi Fluid

As grantv mentioned check all fluids and belts. I would inspect tires closely also for cracking/dry rot. Wouldnt hurt to also dump a can of seafoam or techron into the gas tank.

The guy who sold me it put brand new tires on the car, put a stainless steel exhaust system (I cant identify it) and a cold air intake by K&N. All this was done within the past year.

Good deal. If you post a picture of the exhaust I'm sure someone could identify it for you.

Thank You! I would like to know whats on my vehicle, I crawled under there today to put on my exhaust plate and saw no name anywhere on the mufflers or pipes.

I will post photos of the exhaust in a day or two

The parts you ordered are very good - get those installed and you should be good to go. And as mentioned above, change out your fluids too - especially the coolant and brake fluids.

Oh well. It still looks good and as long as you are satisfied with the sounds thats all that matters. Name brand exhaust systems for these cars are pricey. I bought mine used off of a forum member.
