Default Too much torque?

I took advantage of a dyno run reciently. The results indicate my numbers for torque are greater the HP, example 322hp & 327lb/ft. .

What gives? Small blocks ususally make bigger numbers for HP then TQ?

Today I had the same shop adjust the WOT A/F. They work was done on a different dyno. The numbers are a little different but, the TQ figure is still greater then the HP? The work picked up about 15hp and, it looks like a little more TQ, ~20lb/ft. :D It does seem to have improved WOT performance, especially here at my home altitude ~2500ft.

Am I missing something?

TQ is your friend :yesnod: repeat after me TQ is my friend :D
You probably got the extra TQ from the exaust you have. Usually you'll pick up more tq than hp with an exaust system

TQ is my friend,
TQ is my friend :jester

I agree, I'm just not use to seeing the TQ figure higher then the HP.

Oh well, as long as I have a friend named TQ, all's right with the world..

You think yours is out of wack... Mine are 304 HP and 329 torque on a A4.

One of the desirable things about a V-8 motor is that you more often than not have a torque peak that is significantly lower in the rpm band than the peak HP. This is what gives the car drivability - you have copious amounts of torque at cruising rpm, so you can accelerate to a reasonable degree before forcing a downshift. If you want a peak torque figure that is lower than your peak HP figure, go get yourself a VTEC. :jester

Horsepower is a mathmatically arrived at number. The formula is: TQ x RPM's divided by 5250. HP and TQ always cross at 5250 RPM's, on a dyno graph. If they don't the graph is wrong. If you want your HP to exceed TQ you can do it with a bigger cam, better breathing and higher RPM's.

Or your power numbers could look like mine:rolleyes:. Wonderful tq to work with(LT-1), but not much horsepower above 4500:nopity. I think i would take your power curve any day. :D
