Default Powerbond balancer installation

I understand that the timing marks on my new powerbond balancer are irrelevant but I still wish to install it with the marks as close to tdc as possible. Is there an easy way to find tdc without pulling the #1 plug and using a degree wheel?

If all the plugs are out, rotate the motor and have someone put a finger into cylinder #1 until you feel it compressing air. Then bring to the top. Easiest way to see it is to buy an inexpensive endoscope for your phone off of Amazon. Then you can look right into the cylinder. Otherwise, a straw or something to feel for the piston coming to the top.

Pinning kit with the pin inline with the crank key then put a timing tab where-ever the 0* mark at TDC ends up being?

There is no timing tab so what were you going to line-up the balancer mark with?

I pinned mine but had the timing cover off at the time. Probably not perfect alignment between 0 degrees on the ATI and TDC, but close enough for rocker work, etc.
