Stupid question I guess. I recently picked up an 04 Z06 and I'm having a couple issues. I was going to change the fuel filter. Car is on a lift and I don't see it! I crawled under my 02 Z06 and I see it just fine. Did they move it in 04? Is it internal in the fuel tank?
Beginning mid model year 2003 the fuel tank system was changed. The filter is in the tank and is an integral part of the pump so it is not easily changed. Same is true for the fuel pressure regulator.
Perhaps half blame on GM Engineering and half blame on the morons at EPA. JMHO.
You have to remember, the manufacturer is always driven by production costs. Combining the pump/filter/etc. into one unit reduces assembly work - and that's what (all?) they care about.
