If you are into autocrossing and want to run BS than you need a stock HB. Otherwise get an aftermarket. If you go with the stock one be sure and pin the crank.
Now I have been seeing conflicting stories here. I want to change mine to aftermarket but I have been seeing posts to swap the weights. Mine isn't bad but I don't want to be on the freeway and all of a sudden "BAM".
Normally most of the offset balance adjustment is done at the flywheel but YES, the dampener is also offset balanced at the factory for the MANUAL Transmission C5s.
The only way to properly balance that dampener is to match mark it to the crank, have the new one machined balanced to match the OFF SET BALANCE of the old factory one and then put the new one back on the crank in the exact same alignment as the old OEM one.
To be honest, hen I replaced mine with the DAYCO/POWERBOND, I didnt worry about the balance. I just made sure that my flywheel was properly off set balanced. YES, I used an ARP bolt!
