Urban Legend? LS1 Programming...
I heard a rumour that solely through programming one can make a 200mph C5 with a stock LS1. I doubt this is true, but I honestly don't know if this is possible. Is it possible? Can anyone shed any light on this?

I don't have enough specific knowledge to give you a complete answer, but I'd say that the most important factors determining top speed and therefore whether a stock LS1 C5 could hit 200 mph are: 1)engine power output; 2)gearing; 3)aerodynamics.
The way I see it, programming affects none of these, with the exception of you may be able to squeeze a bit more power out of the engine, but certainly not enough to add 25+mph to top speed.

no way with a stock LS1.
I was told by a friend that a "friend of a friend" of his worked in GM engineering and claimed they could make a 200mph C5 by very finely tuning the fuel air mixture. It was almost believable but not quite.

Well technically you can make a 200 MPH LS1 by removing the speed limiter, that would LET it go to 200.....now getting it there is another story :lol: :smash: :cheers: :D :jester

Horsepower to reach 200 mph is just north of 500 hp.

There is a rev limiter.
Maybe you could raise the rev limit to 10,000 and get to 200mph.

200 mph is not possible with a stock LS1....the top speed isn't a function of the rev limiter or tire size....it just runs out of HP at 175 mph....top speed in any car is reached with the proper tire size, differential gears and a transmission gear that allows peak HP level revs. :cheers:
