Default Front wheel speed sensor

My ABS light and Traction Control light came on at the same time. My mechanic says that it is the left front speed sensor based on the codes it is throwing. How bad are these to replace? Should I let him do it or is this something I can do myself?

I'd recommend pulling the wheel and checking the sensor connector for corrosion and make sure the contacts are clean and secure.
