Default 2004 Fuel Pump/Tank Removal

I'm at an impasse. My fuel pump is going so I started removing the driver side tank. Everything is fairly clear about the process, but I have the crossover tube disconnected and it appears the lines that are suppose to stay in the fuel tank have not and will not separate from the crossover. Of course, I can't see squat up there and just feeling around I can't tell much. I don't want to start trying some means of separating the darn things that'll cause irreversible damage. I've pulled and shaken things to no avail.

I'm certain several folks have encountered this before and if you are reading this and can give me some direction, I'd appreciate it. I'm ready to drop the tank and get this done but for the dang tubes/pipes inside the crossover holding up the whole process..

Well, it came apart, but the line that fits in the left tank and the line that runs through the crossover both broke. I tried to look up the part numbers but don't see anything listed for the 2004. Are the part numbers for the 2005+ the same as the 2004? If not, does anyone know the correct part numbers?

my guess is they are the same. Good luck! Have fun with the assembly. I sincerely recommend you remove the passenger side tank 1st

Yeah it's probably overkill, but I would have removed the torque tube and tranny/diff/rear cradle before removing the tanks.

Sucks this happened, good luck.

Thanks for the replies.

I ordered the parts for the 2005+ yesterday. Once the parts arrive, I'm going to attempt to reassemble it w/o dropping the transmission and cradle. If she won't go back together, I'll pull everything out and go from there. One way or another it's going to happen.

I can confirm that the 2005+ parts are a match for the late 2003 & 2004 fuel tank lines. I ordered ACDelco/GM 10337583 & 10337588 and they are a match to my oem left side tank and crossover lines.
