Looking for some advice. Driving down the road the other day and car seemed like it wanted to stall and the volts were reading 12.9 to 13.0 when car was hot.
So I checked voltage at battery is 14.0 to 14.1, voltage at alternator reading 14.4. Is this normal?
I had similar problems in the past with the starter solenoid wiring. Hope it not coming undone, Its been over a year, until now.
The only thing between the alternator and the battery is wire with connection points at the alternator, starter solenoid and at the positive battery post. Should not be a voltage drop across good wire or clean and tight wire connections.
If you have a voltage drop between those two locations it has to be either toasted wiring or loose or corroded connection at the solenoid or loose or corroded battery post connection or at the alternator post. Headers are well known for toasting the wires and causing the connection point to become loose or burnt at the solenoid. That is the place I would start first....... JMHO
Yea I am afraid of the same thing, and something similar over a year ago. My car is procharged, I am sure producing a lot of heat in that area. As soon as I have some time I have to start breaking things down. I hate getting under the corvette.
I looked already and looks like the small wire coming from the main pos postlooks a lil chared, Where does this connect to?
Also I had charged the battery a few times, Could the voltage of battery charging affect those wires in someway to be toast, or just being exposed to massive heat and weaking the connections?

Charging the battery should not affect the small wires. What color wire(s) are darkened? There are two wires that go to the alternator (both are red) and one that goes to the Theft Deterrent Relay or TDR and that one is purple. You might consider turning/moving the wire connections so that they are as far from the exhaust heat as possible or using some type of insulation to reduce the heat getting to the solenoid connections.
Looks like the small purple wire is brittle. I went to touch it and seemed brittle. Could this be causing my low voltage of 13.0 while car is hot. Maybe the wires is moving back and forth under intense heat?
