a friend has a 99 coupe . I tried to bring up codes on dash display. It won't let me get into it. ( options and press fuel 4 times ) I showed him how it works on my 01 with no problem but couldn't do it on his . Any suggestions, or are we going to have to put a scanner on it ?

make sure it's on the odometer mileage first, then hold options ,while pressing fuel 4 times.
