Default Anyone have issues getting into 3rd under WOT

I have had a bunch of issues the last few WOT runs i have done where i cant get my car into 3rd gear. and end up bouncing off the rev limiter. i recently changed my tranny fluid with the recommended amsoil tourqe mesh stuff and it was awesome and now my 3rd gear is exceptionally notchy to get in gear even under normal driving conditions.

Have you tried doing a shifter alignment? With you mashing through the gears, you may have thrown the alignment off. This is a no cost option to try.

Are any other gears notchy? If no, my guess is you have a synchro going bad.

Change your trans oil and flush out your clutch fluid.

A shifter alignment wouldn't be a bad idea - the stock rubber bushing crack and degrade over time.

Several reasons for this issue:

1. Third gear synchro & Blocker rings are worn.

2. Shifter Issues. Check the rubber bushings where the lower housing attaches to the TT. They should NOT be cracked or mushey. Shift the box with the same force that you use and see if the box or the box output shaft deflects. It shouldn't. Our shifters and the lower box do wear out!! If the box isn't solid, it will not shift the trans properly of fully. I've seem the four bolts come loose on top of the shifter and cause the same issue.

3. If you are not getting a proper clutch disk release when you fully depress the clutch, the weakest gear (blocker rings and synchros ) will show their weakness. (You're third gear)
If it were me, I would install a new clutch master cylinder and fully bleed the entire clutch hydraulic system. You will be amazed how much clutch dust gets into our clutch hydraulic system due to the poor sealing ability of the slave cylinder seal. A new master cylinder may give you enough fluid displacement to regain a full clutch disk release.

Hope this helps.

Bill

I have the same issues with third and fourth sometimes and have seemed to do better once clutch fluid is changed and vacuum bled.
