A while back, I posted a thread about how my interior courtesy lights quit working. I was installing some 8" neon tubes in my side gills (please save it), and I shorted something out that made my interior courtesy lights stop working.
The little light under the glovebox on the passenger side and the two lights under the rearview mirror no longer come on when the doors are opene, when the fob is used to unlock the car, or when the dash dimmer switch is turned all the way to the "on" position. The two lights under the rearview mirror WILL come on using the two rocker switches on the mirror. Also, my "Window Valet" has quit working.
I went into the passenger floorboard fuse box and switched out the relay (#42) and both circuit breakers. I also switched out the #194 bulb in the passenger footwell and no luck. I am stumped.
What's interesting is the backlighting in the door armrests still comes on (behind the "lock" and "window" switches) but for some reason the courtesy lights simply will not work. I suspect that the Window Valet non-functioning is related to this as well. I've tried removing and reinstalling it but the car won't even recognize that its there.
What did I do??? Someone PLEASE PLEASE help me!! :cry :cry :cry
Yeah I know... seems that every freaking wire has a ground to it somewhere... I really hate wiring problems!! :cry best of luck getting it fixed. :smash:
The Best advice I can give you would be to go back to the wiring area that you worked in when installing your neon lights and check to see if things are ok there. If you cant do it yourself ask someone in your area to help you out. IF all else fails, you can take it to the dealership and have them fix it. (sometimes that is the best thing to do)
Did you change out the mini fuse #29? I see you already got the relay #42 changed so lets check going in and out of the relay. Circuit #1240 should be your fused power in to the realy. Circuit #690 should be the relay ground that comes from your BCM (the same wire comming out of the BCM is A3/C3 which is a gray wire with a black stripe), and circuit #740 should be your power out of the relay to your mirrors. There is no way for all the above to check out o.k. and for your lights not to work. I will e-mail you a wiring schematic.
