I haven't swapped the stock cam out of my car yet, so I've been looking to learn as much as possible like you're doing. I think my conclusion thus far is that there is a fair amount of trial and error in selecting a cam. I think you're best off if you go with recommendations made my someone with lots of experience on a very similar setup as you have. I'm not convinced that I could learn enough by myself to select my own cam.
