Default Help w/ Active Handling warning...

I have been getting this intermittent for the past several months...will come on for awhile and then go off. I may stop the car and then restart and it won't come back on. Driving down the highway the cruise will disengage and it gives me "Service Active Handling"
Any Help would be appreciated?

Sounds like the SWPS is about to take a crap. Pull your codes and I bet the C1287 and/or C1288 come up. If your car is an '01 or newer you can still buy a new one. Pre '01 are only available used and are getting hard to find. The part # for the newer one is 88965543 and they cost about $70.

Good luck - hope it is not a terribly expensive fix.

OP, did you ever pull the codes? Please let the forum know the results for the problem. That way it helps everybody with similar problems.

Where are you at. There are many members that are able to help with this. Also there are independent shops that can do this for less than the dealer and know what they are doing.

If you are in So Cal I have done several of these. It takes about 2.5 hrs to change it.
Let me know if you want me to help.

Somewhat depressing when I read "I'm headed to the Chevy Dealer".
You can diagnose this yourself on your DIC. If you need help, P.M. me.

Gary, thanks for the offer! But live in KY. I could bring it out tho, have a daughter in San Diego. Lol
Stopped by the Chevy dealer today, they said it would take an hr to hr 1/2 So I'm just going to let them fix it. Looking at $200 total including OEM sensor.

That sounds like a reasonable price for the repair. Most dealers would charge about 2 to 3 hrs at shop rate for the labor plus the $70 to $120 for the part.
