Lately when I fill the gas tank and after driving away from the gas station I began to smell a light odor of gas anyone have an issue like this before? I know I didn't step in any gas or drip any on my clothing.
Any suggestions or possible causes?
What year is your car? Some years had tank issues.
Does your car sit for long periods of time? Could be vapor from the charcoal filter.
I am assuming you haven't found any leaks.

2002 base, no leaks and hope this is not one with tank issues. Car does not sit, have 98230 miles driven every other day when weather permits.

'02's are not known for tank issues like a lot of the '03 and '04 models. I would double check for leaks though.
You say it happens after you get gas. Are you filling it up all the way to the cap?
My '02 had a fuel smell after it sat in the garage for a few months. The smell went away after I started it. I assumed it was the EVAP system (charcoal filter).
I have read the gas smell can be caused by a faulty cross over pipe that connects the two gas tanks.
I was having the same problem with my car earlier this year. Every time I filled it up, I could smell gas in the cabin for the first couple miles after I drove away. I didn't notice any leaks. So I started only putting 10-12 gallons in at a time, and that prevented the smell. But it seems to have resolved itself. I've been filling it all the way up and the gas smell hasn't returned in several months. Maybe it was something with the charcoal/ evap system ?
Mine only does this when I TOP OFF the tank
IF I quit filling when the pump clicks off, then don't ever get it.
According to GM , You are supposed to stop filling when the pump clicks.
Are you topping off ?? Or does it do it anytime you add fuel ??
Guy's thanks for your response to my issue. I filled the car this evening and noticed the smell, maybe the 3rd time I noticed it. I do shut the gas off when the pump automatically stops on the first click. I do have a DIC code 0441 once in awhile and that falls in line with it possible being the evaporate charcoal canister. I'll check that in the morning. The smell does go away after a day sitting in the garage. Hope like H__ it's not the tank or crossover pipe.
