Re: Any problems fitting LG headers on C5??? (Slammed Vette)
not from personal experience but from everything I've read here, the fitment problems are non-existant and as for gains, once again, everything I've read puts them with measurable gains over other headers
Re: Any problems fitting LG headers on C5??? (Slammed Vette)
To be honest a few of our first sets had a little rubbing problems. We support our customers 100% and of the ones that had problems we repaired and only one set was refunded. We have had 0 complaints since then and if you have any issue with them we will step up and make it right. Our current production headers (we call them Gen II) have no clearance or vibration issues, are including merge style collectors, and actually run even more parallel to the ground. We can not say absolutely that on your car you will gain X amount of power over the TTS, but we have experienced gains of as much as 25RWHP/30RWTQ over other headers on our cars.
Re: Any problems fitting LG headers on C5??? (Godspeed)
Slammed Vette, do you want these for your car? The LG Longtubes would not work with your Corsa Ti Race exhaust :nono: . The longtubes go back too far and take up the room where the resonators go.

Re: Any problems fitting LG headers on C5??? (los7883)
OK,
Before this gets out of hand and turns into an "exhausting" thread.
On my 418ci G7 that I had in my own car, I took the tpis headers off the car, and installed our LG Long Tubes, with a 3" 'X' pipe. This change netted an INCREASE of 22rwhp and 27 rwtq. This graph was posted. keep in mind that this was on a 418 ci engine.
Then Katech, the builder of the C5R Lemans engine did their own testing. And without our "X" pipe, they found a Torque increase of 30 ft lbs OVER the TPIS headers. The lack of an "X" pipe or even a cross over to match the TPIS headers hurt the top RPM hp with our headers by 4hp, but we know that an "X" pipe or even a cross over tube yields a tremendous gain over nothing. But even so, the hp was increased everywhere throughout the rpm range, except fot the last 200 rpms, and only due to the lack of an "X" pipe or cross over.
So please do not turn this into a flame fest. I will say just two more things. Our headers were on David Farmer's C5 when he won his first race in the World Challenge series at Mosport. And our LG Long tubes were on the 2001 Z06 that just won the SCCA National Championship at the Solo II runoffs in the ASPL class, (I think that is the class) this year. We picked up over 35+/- rwhp on that car with the LG headers and 3" "X" pipe, with open exhaust. It was the only Corvette there with these headers.
Re: Any problems fitting LG headers on C5??? (LG Motorsports)
Lou, I certainly don't want to a start flame fest either:)... just wanted to look at some data. Did Nate get ahold of you? We were thinking of trying your GenII headers on his 427 :yesnod: Should we call you tomorrow?
Here's one without the x-pipe through mufflers that gained 22RWHP/27RWTQ at peak over TPIS. It is important to remember that most of the gains with the LGM headers come from the toque power band being shifted down and don't occur at peak power where you at momentarily - the gains are across the entire RPM band. This is a characteristic of our true long tube (32") design.
Re: Any problems fitting LG headers on C5??? (LG Motorsports)
Lou.........I am NOT doubting your results at all. I am just curious as to why your Longtubes net such great gains over these other headers. Thanks....

There are other good headers on the market, but our exhaust system delivers the most gain currently available from the C5 as independently verified by both racers and Katech Engineering - the very people who built the motor that led the C5R to victory at Le Mans. Specifically in the big cube motor setups we beat the competition where their headers become more of a restriction. This can be contributed by three main factors:
1. 32" primary tubes which are 12"-18" longer than others
2. Racing merge style collectors (500.00 alone)
3. 3" offroad x-pipes
That sums it up. :)
Never the less the gains on a bone stock car aren't bad either. Note the gains across the entire curve here, not just at peak. This is the seat of the pants acceleration you feel!
This dyno was through a XR1 muffler connected to my Corsa catback (3 mufflers total) - not even the x-pipe which is good for another 5-10RWHP was used at the time.

Re: Any problems fitting LG headers on C5??? (Godspeed)
I just got an IM from Darren Brown,"Vicious" with his gains from the LG Long tubes, plus the 3" "X" pipe, and on his stock A4 he gained 22rwhp and 25rwtq from stock. He also had no cats.
You will not see exactly the same gains if you have no "X" pipe. We sell a complete bolt in kit using the Corsa "X" pipe mid section.

Re: Any problems fitting LG headers on C5??? (rbeckham)
Rbeckham, I haven't seen the Corsa Ti system to determine whether they will work. I may be able to adapt them in some way.
I will get with Corsa.
All thot/no Bot; When you look at David's, keep in mind that they are a Generation I, early set. We now have much better fitment, and ground clearance.
