I'm selling an RPM built T56 from a 2007 Corvette. I have received several hits of guys wanting to buy it if it will fit their C5 Z06 Corvette. The RPM transmission has a 27 spline output shaft. Can anyone tell me if the C6 T56 a direct exchange into a C5 Z06? Surely someone has attempted to pull this swap already.
To anyone whom this may be of interest, the C6 T56 transmission is not a direct bolt-in replacement for a C5 Z06. However, it is possible to install it in your C5 Z06 if you do one of two things...
1. Swap the rear housing from your Z06 transmission onto the C6 T56 transmission so your C5 differential will bolt up. Not difficult, but may require shimming of the output shaft. Any reputable transmission shop can easily handle it.
2. Install a C6 differential and cradle in your C5 as part of the swap.
