Default TSB for rear convertible top bow seal.....

I asked my dealer to replace this seal (not rubbing yet) TSB #02-08-111-001...instead they got in the black strip that attaches to the deck lid?? under another TSB (wouldn't tell me the TSB#).....so does one replace the seal on the top bow....or the deck lid strip in order to avoid this problem ? Thanks! and let me add....that if the top is properly adjusted it should never touch the deck lid, hence no need for the use a strip of protectant

this is just like treating the symptoms and not the solving the cause of the symptoms

Correct... :yesnod:

I use a business card to make the final adjustment. That is the space that the canvas at the bottom need between the paint and itself.
The only thing that actually touches is the rubber seal...

As a new convertible owner, I'm trying to keep mental notes.

Chuckster, I notice on my car the gap is actually enought that I can run the edge of a towel under it. Without going out and looking at it right now, I'd guess its close to 1/4". And I get no leaking or wind noise. In fact, the most amazing thing about the vert is that with the top and windows up it is quieter than my 01 coupe was.

Yep, that gap is fine...YOu don't want the canvas touching the paint.. The big rubber seal under there is the only thing that should touch the deck lid. :smash:

The critical adjustment for the convertible top meeting the tonneau cover is at the left and right seams where the top canvas meets the side canvas. These two places are adjusted to just clear the paint on the tonneau cover. When adjusted this way the rest of the spacing will be wider.

Most C5 Roadsters I have examined have rub marks on both sides from these protruding seams. :cry

After they replace the proper seal 3VETTES make sure to adjust the top for rear clearance noted above. My dealer didn't adjust it because they didn't have a clue how to do it. Check out this link for directions. http://www.vetteguru.com/top/ It takes about 5Min's tops

Keep in mind that a convertible top will need periodic adjustment.
