Okay, so I was stuck in gridlock a few Fridays ago about an hour after tornadoes hit Indy and flipped the wipers on to wipe off some mist still coming down. As I flipped the switch up, the washer button on the end shoots out across the car with the 2 springs that are under it!! This is the 2nd time I've had this problem, am I the only one?
Anyway, the springs were under the passenger seat and I couldn't stop the car to search since we were crawling along the interstate in first gear. The problem is that when the switch is off, the washing mechanism is constantly on. It would be nearly and hour before I had a chance to get pulled off the road to fix things. Of course by now my washer motors had been running forever and I was long since out of fluid.
Here's my problem. Now that I have the fluid refilled, the washers don't work. It sounds like the pump motors are running when I push the switch on, but no fluid comes out. Help! Does anyone have an idea how to solve the issue? Thanks in advance.
There is a good chance the the washer pump went bad...Much like a fuel pump, the pump being submerged in a liquid actually keeps it cool and prevents it from overheating. The washer pump is located at the bottom of the washer tank :yesnod:
I had the washer button come off my 2002 vert when it was parked in the garage. I was lucky enough to find the 2 small springs and put everything back together. I now have a small piece of black electrical tape over the end to make sure it doesn't happen again. When the button flys out, the wipers and washer are continously running :( :flag
