Trying to prep the car for an event next week and found a crack on the front spring that runs from the end closest to the shock to the nearest adjuster hole (about an inch).
This is what I inherited from the PO:
VBP Composite Sport Front Spring - Rate: 903 (VBP verified the rate as marked on the bar)
C5Z06 Rear Spring – Rate: 714
C6ZR1 front swaybar – 33mm
C6Z51 rear swaybar – 25.4mm
C6Z06 Shocks front and rear
I replaced the end links with adjustables so the car could be corner balanced.
The car has pretty good manners. I have pushed it around a bit and it feels planted.
So if I don't want to spend $610 on a replacement do I have any other options? Looks like the T1 spring is rated at 582lbs which is the highest OE spring.
I do have a set of the 1st gen Pfadt coilovers that were given to me although I have to have the coils tested for spring rate.
I know that there are plenty of guys racing 944s that go with coilovers on the front and leave the torsion bars in the rear. Could I do the same thing with the C5?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Marc
EDIT: It looks like nothing OE comes close to the spring rate of the VBP so it looks like the replacement will have to come elsewhere. I found out the bar is about 4 years old so I have no interest in buying another one to replace it before the car is retired.
I have heard some fellow racers having issues with these springs failing/collapsing/cracking and not being able to get them replaced. Seems to be some quality control issues. I have Vansteel Hyperco springs and they have been good for about 2 years so far.

If you would have posted this in the auto cross and road race forum you'd probably get more input, but like I've said over there a friend of mine has had 2 or 3 of the front springs start to delaminates. He ultimately went coil over all around in his c5 and hasn't looked back. Not sure what your recourse would be with VetteBrake being your not the original purchaser of the springs.
Like me the guy above me, I bought the hyperco track front spring and street rear spring time put on my c5. Have had them for 2 years now as well and no issues.
Read through this post. Lane test springs rated and you can see where all the springs stack up. Then call up Sam Strano and order the hyperco spring. I wouldn't give vettebrake the satisfaction of selling any spring...
Thanks for sharing that link. Awesome information. I am going to throw the coilovers on with the 575 lb springs that came with the rear Pfadts, and go from there.
