Default Checking Ride Control

Is there any way to check the ride control to see if it's working? I can't tell the difference between "touring" and "performance" settings.

What year C5 do you have and what Real Time Dampening System do you have?? F-45 or F-55

The F-55 only has two settings.

I have the F45 system and here are a few of the things I've found to work:

Disconnect the battery for ten minutes or so. This seems to reset the system and makes it is more sensitive to the setting. Be sure you have your radio theft code if set.

Check that your anti-roll bars are not frozen in their bushings. If they are frozen, nothing is moving. Take the bushings off and lube them.

Are you running Goodyear run flats? Run flats, especially GYs, are so stiff they mask any softness from the suspension. Lowering the air pressure does nothing as they are hard as a rock even without air. Softer tires will allow the suspension settings to be felt by the driver.

Good luck. Hope one of these suggestions helps. My F45 has 143K miles and still works.
My wife used to say the settings should have read:" Hard, Harder and Hardest". What does she know?

Here is how to tell if the F45 system is working......

Rip out all the C5 F45 CRAP!!

Install a set of C6 ZO6 Shocks. Have someone with a GM Tech 2 eliminate the F-45 RPO Code from your BCM..

The SMILE on your face and the seat of the pance improvement will let you know that you did the correct thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I HATED every moment of the F45 in my 98 Coupe!!!

Get a REAL C5 suspension (Z51 or ZO6) under that C5 and ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bill
