Default Easy entry/exit issues

My wife has always enjoyed the convenience of this option feature in her 99 base Vert. Recently, due to some rough handling at a car wash, the left seat cushion trim, containing the seat controls, broke and wound up dis-mounted. The car has about 64,000 miles, and has always been in the Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay areas. (Climates with little adverse effect from humidity.) The seat moves forward to the correct (preset) position upon insertion of the ignition key, but when removing the key the seat no longer retracts to the rearward position. The control switches do all work properly. Anyone have any idea where I should be focusing? T.I.A.

Check to make sure the easy exit feature is still turned on. IIRC it is in the options menu.

Does it retract when you unlock the car with the FOB?
Plus, does it never retract upon key removal? Mine occasionally forgets to do so.

I've checked and verified that the easy entry/exit is turned on in the options menu. The seat always moves forward upon entry, and never moves rearward upon key removal. Use of the manual switch at the left side of the seat cushion is necessary.

Sometimes the MEMORY (if equipped) has a brain fart.

Easiest way to get everything working is to reprogram each memory for each FOB. Reset ALL the memory's and see if that helps.

Just PRESS AND HOLD the little memory button till it flashes for each memory position (1 & 2 ) .

Bill

Hi Bill
Thanks for chiming in. I went through the entire fob recognition routine for both fobs, re-matching them to the car. I reset the seat positions, and the mirrors, and did the push 'till it flashes with the 1 and 2 memory buttons. Then I went through the options programming completely. The one thing I didn't try was turning easy entry/exit off, running the car, then re-programming to turn it on again. I'll try that when she returns from the hairdresser.

Hi again, I did reprogram to turn the easy entry/exit option off. I verified that it was off. I then re-set the options to turn this feature back on. The problem remains, the seat moves forward as preset when inserting the key, but it does not move aft at all when the key is removed. To move the seat back it is necessary to use the seat side mounted switch. Any other thoughts?
Edit: BTW, The seat does move back if I get in, crush my knees at her more petite-oriented position, then hit mem 2 (my coded positions) to correct the position for me. It only moves back a few inches (I'm not at all tall) and stops, as it should, at my position. So, again, any other thoughts?

What ever tells the system to execute the seat to the easy exit position isn't working.
I do not have this feature in my car however do have it in my truck. When I turn the key off, the seat goes to the easy exit position. My guess would be that signal is not getting to the seat control module????

That would be the seat control module. Start there.. Examine the seat connector. They get damaged a LOT and the serial data wire goest through that connector. Examine all the female pins and ALL the wires for damage. You would be amazed at how many of those connectors go bad. They are close to the floor and rub/hit many things.

Look at the SCm and make sure that the board inside isnt corroded or damaged.

Thanks much Bill. I'll give it a shot later today or sometime tomorrow.
