Default Add return line to 2004?

I recently picked up a 2004 C5 and (due to personal preference) would like to convert it to a return style fuel system (i.e. add a return line).

Would it be possible to use the return line from a 97/98 C5?

How do people go about adding a return line to the C6 and C7?

Since you replied to my fuel gauge issue thread, you might remember that I may well have a fuel tank drop in my future regardless (I've been through several fills with Techron and the gauge is still flaky). IF the tank comes out anyways, that would be the perfect time to add a return line.

Looking at the diagram in the PDF, it seems the internal pressure regulator could be deleted, the line plugged, and then a return line tapped into the tank somewhere (e.g.: a bulkhead fitting into either the pump housing or the tank itself).

What I'm curious is whether or not the clips/brackets are present (e.g.: down the tunnel area) to accept a return line. My experience has been that when car companies delete a return line, they don't change the brackets. They just delete the line and keep using the old style.
