hi ,i recently bought 4 tpms valves for my 1999 c5 ,ive tried to learn them to the car using magnets with no success ,ive contacted the supplier they said you dont learn them using magnets but with a [ diagnostic tool ] firstly how can they supply the valves for a c5 if you dont learn them the way a c5 is designed to learn them ,also where can i get them learned hope someone can help cheers
The C5 training procedure for TPMS does NOT specify that the TPMS be made to transmit using a magnet. The Procedure simply requires that a TPMS can be forced to transmit on demand. Schrader and ACDelco TPMS just happen to use a magnet to force the transmission. Other manufacturers can use any procedure of their choice. Some use a technique of letting air out of the tire to force the transmission and others use electronic tools to force the transmission.
When ever you purchase an after market TPMS for the C5 you, or the person training the TPMS to the car, need to know what technique is required by the manufacturer of the TPMS and use that technique.
As far as getting your after market TPMS programmed to your C5 you are going to have to identify the needed technique and then find someone that can do that process while using the DIC initiated training procedure.
hi , thanks for the reply,i didnt know this so much appreciated ,i will search for a garage with a diagnostic tool i need thanks again
