Default Interior Rear View Mirror - Disassembly

I have searched and cannot find an answer to this one. I want to disassemble the interior rear view mirror to clean off all the deteriorated foam backing from the glass but was hoping to find some instructions on how to get it apart.

I have a regular (non-dimming) mirror and pulled it off to put LEDs in. But the foam backing on the mirror glass has deteriorated and is now just a sticky mess. Since I've got it off, I wanted to pull it apart so I could pull the glass out and clean off the back of it. I would guess that the foam was to act as insulation against the heat from the OEM incandescent bulbs and that the years and the heat have turned it into a sticky goo.

The front frame around the mirror does pull apart a bit on the bottom and the top but is not giving on the sides (around the corners/edges) of the mirror. Not sure if it is glued on or has some sort of tabs. I'm trying not to break it with errant force but I really do want to get it apart. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Update: Held together with tabs. Just start at the bottom by the light switches and work around carefully with a small flat-blade screwdriver. once the bottom and sides are done you can separate it enough to get the mirror out and get access to the tabs along the top.
