OEM C5/C5Z axles are the same and are pretty much the best option until you go with the high dollar replacements from someplace like G Force or the Drive Shaft Shop.
Doesn’t sound like you need to replace them unless the boots are slinging grease everywhere.

C5 and C6 axles are all the same. The C6 axles are not stronger.
Popular belief is that the C5 axles are stronger than the C6 axles, though I haven’t seen any technical data to back this up.
I use OEM C5 axles on my race car and have no issues.

Really? I had no idea. I seem to remember that they are the same.
What is different? The output shaft spline is the same. The hub spline is the same.
