ive been debating whether or not to purchase one of these units. heres what im encountering... my trans wont shift under wot from 2nd to 3rd until I let off. I may have a trans going out however I was told I may need to lower my shift points (mph/rpms) . does this tech 2 offer this capabiltly? thanks in adavnce
I believe you can alter shift points using Service Programming System function of tech2 'tis2000' or the newer 'tis2web' application however unless your c5 has been heavily modified I would say you have some other problem that requires proper troubleshooting, rather then reprogramming the system to shift differently from which it was designed.
Have you pulled the codes?
As a side note:
Before you fork out for a tech2, consider an MDI clone or vxdiag nano adaptor, which is cheaper and less susceptible to failure.

an MDI is a ''pass-thru'' device,,it needs soft ware and a laptop to work,,i tech2 is aa scanner and can still be used as a ''pass-thru'' with a laptop and software
yeah I agree, im thinking my trans is a goner. it does shift fine at part throttle tho. no codes in the trans control module... my car is mainly stock. this issue started since I purchased it used (99 c5 w approx. 85k) I would used to just barely hit the limiter during 2 to 3 shifts, then last time I took it out it was hitting the limiter hard.

Yeah but you can get cracked versions of the GM diagnostic software online if you do some searching.
Some of the mdi clones come with the cracked software.

That sucks, although perhaps you need to do some more troubleshooting before you come to that conclusion.
