Default Which X-Pipe?

I have a '99 hardtop with Borla XR-1. Borla promises the sound of a '67 427 with sidepipes......yeah right. Nothing sounds that good. The system is not near loud enough. I want my car to be NASTY LOUD! Any suggestions? Also, I want to know which X-pipe will be the best for me to install (Bassina, Breathless, etc.). I want to get rid of the cats. Does anyone have this setup? How will this sound and about how much can I expect to pay? Where should I buy from? Thanks for any advice.

I got my x-pipe from West Coast Corvettes. I think that they were about $ 275.00 or so. Ask for Todd.

Good thing about the Bassani's is that they elminated that nasty little popping sound that you sometimes get when decelerating.

Let us know how it works out.

MTI sells the Dr. Gas offroad X-pipe, it's the best one out there. Stay away from Breathless, I had one of thier offroad X-pipes and it was complete garbage. Bad bends, bad welds, it needed a good amount of work to fit.

For the On-Raod pipe, with CATS kept...they all do the same thing.:) They reduce pop and gurgle on decel, smooth the idle, tame the WOT response a tad and give you a few ponies and ft lbs of tq.

We offer one at $105 and at $269...aluminized metal versus stainless steel.

The Corsa product is the nicest, but, again, they all do the same thing being that they are an ON-raod x-pipe. Some require welding, some are bolt and clamp style.:)

RG

Corsa SS pipe:

CORSA's Ultimate C5 Crossover Pipe™ design provides improved, balanced side-to-side exhaust flow for increased power and eliminates the exhaust "idle burble" and popping on deceleration in most fifth generation Corvettes. CORSA's X-style Crossover Pipe™ improves exhaust flow, at the same time smoothing out the LS1 engine pulses for better throttle response and a cleaner sound. The perfect complement to CORSA's Pace Car Edition muffler system!

CORSA Performance, makers of the World's best-selling C5 Corvette exhaust system featuring it's patented *Power-Pulse RSC™ technology, has focused its attention on developing the ultimate C5 Crossover Pipe. This design, based on sound engineering principles, provides improved, balanced side-to-side exhaust flow for increased power and eliminates the exhaust "idle burble" and popping on deceleration in most fifth generation Corvettes. CORSA's X-style Crossover Pipe improves exhaust flow, at the same time smoothing out the LS1 engine pulses for better throttle response and a cleaner sound.

CORSA's full-length, 2 1/2-inch X-style Crossover Pipes, are made of 16 gauge 304 stainless steel with mandrel bends are designed to bolt on after the catalytic converter and mount to the muffler over-the-axle pipe flange. Each CORSA Crossover Pipe comes complete with installation instructions and all necessary hardware and gaskets. No welding required, just basic hand tools. (a chain-style pipe cutter is recommended for ease of installation). Made in the USA, CORSA's Crossover Pipes are "guaranteed for as long as you own your C5."

Exit 28 Weld-in Unit:

For an off road x-pipe set up with no cats...prepare to wake the dead.:)

Face,

He can remove his cats, weld in straight pipe in place of the cats and then run the Magnaflow x-pipe in the rear.

I wasn't the only one on this thread recommending the Magnaflow x-pipe.

If you truly want Nasty loud, then just get the Slp Loudmouth instead. It's the cheapest route to take. You can buy one new for $500 or pick up a used one for $300. I have this exaust, and I picked up the xpipe not to make it louder but to quiet it down. It is insane sounding. It is classic muscle car, especially with a heads/cam setup. With it you can keep your cats, which will save you more $$ and labor as well and you wont need an xpipe as well believe me

The only place he can put an X-pipe in is where his cats are now. The Borla XR-1 has the center resonator so I don't think he can use the Magnaflow or Bassani. He'd have to go with one of the small weld in types that RG sells at eXit-28. I just bought a Corsa Ti Race exhaust from RG and that's the X-pipe I'm planning on buying to replace my cats.
