Default 18" Tire Size

I recently bought a 2001 but the owner before me had changed out the stock wheels to an 18" all around set up. The wheels aren't bad so I was wondering what size tires I would need in order to keep the staggered setup for the traction control. Right now the wheels have 275/40r18's on them.

If you were to keep the 275's as your fronts
275 / 40 - 18 = 26.7 dia.
This would work to keep TC happy on the rear
295 /40 - 18 = 27.3 dia.

I don't see many options in that size. Do you think keeping the 275's as rear and going smaller would work? I have no clue how tire sizing works to do the math myself.

I'm considering & shopping Hankook RS 4s

If you were to keep the 275s as the rear

255/35-18 = 25.0 dia. would work
265/35-18 = 25.3 dia. would also work

In my research when I went to 18" wheels front and rear, I went with 265/35-18 fronts and 295/35-18 rears. Correct diameters and worked perfectly, never any traction control problems. I used 10" wide wheels in the front and 11" wide in the rear.

I'm running 295/35/18 on C5 18x9.5 on all 4 corners. I drive mine daily and traction control doesn't care.

I'm with 2001CamaroGuy... 18x10.5 on mine all 4 corners, 295/35/18 All 4 corners. Traction Control and Acrive Handling don't give me any issues.

Look at these two links for discussion:

Here's a link to calculator that former C5 owner (and tech contributor) Toque used: http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp

And here's a link to Toque's discussion of wheel/tire fitment issues: http://www.toquez06.com/wheels.html

Did you have to trim your front brake ducts? My front tires just slightly rub the front ducts at full lock.
