Pull the codes, try a different key, or clean the pellet. The key could lose contact with the vats contacts and that'll make the security light come on after cranking. Check to make sure the vats contacts aren't broke.

Mine has been doing this the past couple days as well. Contact on the key doesn't look dirty, so I'm betting in my case it's the ignition. It has always occasionally refused to crank until I remove the key and retry, but this is new, so I guess it's getting worse. What's involved in fixing this?
So it's actually done this every morning this week on the way to work, and not at all on the way home, strange. I did notice the light kicked on after a rough patch of road today. I'll try cleaning it tonight, but I really don't expect it to work. I wiped it off with my shirt pretty thoroughly this morning before pulling off.
Well I gave it a good windex cleaning last night, and I did get some kind of result. I drove all the way to work with no security light, but it also took about 5 key turns for the car to see the VATS contact on the key and activate the starter.
It's also worth noting that I can just pull the key straight out of the ignition while the car is running. It kills the car, of course, but isn't it suppose to lock the key in there until I turn it to the off position?
